Becoming an EMT before entering a Nursing Bachelors program?

So I am currently at the community college, I would like to transfer to CSU Long Beach for nursing, and then go to grad school to become an anesthesiologist. Is it possible to obtain an Associates degree for EMT, and then transfer for nursing? I am going to need a stable job when I transfer to pay for rent and school expenses, I thought becoming an EMT would be ideal to give me experience in the medical field. Thoughts, hints, ideas anyone?
